BC: Thank you, thank you very much, thank you. The Smashing Pumpkins will be on later to play some of their greatest hits but uh, thanks for - heh heh. Thank you very much. How's everybody doing up there in those balconies?
For Martha
BC: The only problem with this here Radio City is you're all so far away and we're all so far away from you. That's the only problem in this place. Like, we can see that guy with the Siamese Dream poster, we can see you but you look like an ant. So thank you for attending this special charity concert to benefit the Hale House here in New York City. Thank you for paying that little bit extra so that we could raise more money for this great charity. We're sorry we don't have more, you know, crazy laser lights and stuff but we wanted to save money for the charity so...it's just a bunch of music, I guess, heh heh. I'm not sure we’re - you know, I’m not sure that works anymore in 1998 but we’re giving it a try. Heh heh. Here's one of them laser light songs.
Tonight, Tonight (acoustic)
Once Upon a Time (Billy solo acoustic)
drum/percussion solo
> Zero (tease)
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
> Shame
BC: Thank you, goodnight, thank you.
[encore break]
Iha: Thank you very much, you guys have been really great tonight. And super cool and uh, tonight, all the money's going to - or the last two shows have been going all to charity and it's called the Hale House and it's this great organization we visited in New York and now we'd like to make a special presentation.
Charity lady: (off mic) Can you... (on mic) hello, hello, hello.
BC: (off mic) Wait, take your hand and speak into it like this.
Charity lady: Hello? Can you...? Can you imagine that I get to hug this young man? (loud, long cheer)
BC: (off mic) That’s a good thing.
Charity lady: Thank you, thank you so very much. I don't know if you understand what Billy and James and D’arcy have done for us but they’re having this concert and we get a portion of the money because you gave extra money for us and Hale House thanks you so much. The next time someone says young people don't care, say “Hale House,” okay? I'd like you to - I’d just like to have you meet a member of my team and that's Greg Sullivan, another young man who cares.
Greg: We just want to on behalf of all the staff at Hale House and in particular the little babies, every day that come there with drugs in their system, with all sorts of health problems, they're gonna get the care they need because of the generosity of the Smashing Pumpkins and all of you! Thank you very much!
Iha: Thank you.
BC: And now...and now and now, Smashing Pumpkins are proud to present Hale House with a check for $419,575 dollars.
Iha: [unintelligible] Hale House, you’re really great and we’d like to thank you for all this charity work you’ve now done, heh. Um, and now, it's time to rock.
