September 23, 2011 saw Billy Corgan join Peter Hook and the Light to sing the last two songs of their first encore. This reportedly is the show that bassist Jack Bates (who is Peter Hook's son), caught the attention of Corgan. Bates would join The Smashing Pumpkins as their touring bassist starting in 2015.
