My Love Is Winter
One Diamond, One Heart
BC: Thank you so much, thank you. Nice to be with you tonight. As the girl in the Zero shirt knows...yeah you, you know, you know we’re playing the new album first, right? Yes, okay. Heh heh, our new album Oceania and then uh, we play a couple of those dusties. I know that Jeff, you look forward to the dusties.
Jeff: Yeah, they’re so metal, they freak me out a little [unintelligible word or two], BTO. PRP.
BC: So we had a good huddle-a, hope you have a good time tonight.
Jeff: I’m havin’ a good time.
Jeff: I am.
BC: Well, good. It’s this or the snow.
Jeff: This is a Tuesday night in Chicago.
BC: So this is the title track from our album, it’s called Oceania.
> Tonight, Tonight
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
BC: Thank you very much, thank you. ... Thank you very much, like to introduce the band to you. On the guitar, from Southern California, Mr. Jeff Schroeder. (Jeff plays a short solo) Where are you from, Mike? (Mike shrugs) Portlandia or wherever the hell...Hipsterland, Hipsterland USA, Mike Byrne. (Mike plays a short solo) From Ludlow, Mass, Nicole Fiorentino. (Nicole does a “swoosh” on the bass) [unintelligible 2-3 words].
Nicole: [unintelligible 2-3 words].
BC: I am every man, every person and everyone. I am me and I am you.
Nicole: Well, who are they?
BC: Heh heh heh heh, heh heh heh, well, we’re approaching the end of the concert. We’ve got drugs to do and uh....
BC: We gotta go crash at Bob Ludwig’s house.
Nicole: I don’t know who Bob Ludwig is.
BC: He has a pizza. But before we go...now we’ve played it uh - we had a newer song, meaning post-Oceania song. It was - that was called Black Sunshine and uh, Nicole said that she’s been getting many Facebook requests for this one.
Nicole: No, tweets.
BC: Tweets, you’re getting a lot of tweets.
Nicole: I am [unintelligible word] tweet...so [unintelligible few words].
BC: So of course we stopped playing it...because people wanted to hear it, that’s the way I do things. But now it’s back...
Nicole: With a new new name.
BC: ...with a new title, new name.
Nicole: A better one...which is what?
BC: Uh, Portlandia? Is this Hipsterville East? Now I see a lot of beanies out there.
Jeff: That’s because it’s actually, it’s really cool and not what you think it is.
BC: Oh okay.
Guy in crowd: Portland loves the Pumpkins!
Nicole: Oh my god.
BC: So, we’d like to debut our new version of this song for you tonight, which is why I’m cheating here with the lyrics, I just want you to - I wanna acknowledge my weakness right here. For those of you who like longer, jammier, darker Smashing Pumpkins songs, this is one of those. What do we call this now?
Jeff: Sex Machine.
BC: What’s it called?
Jeff: Sex Machine.
BC: Sex Machine? (laughing off mic)
Nicole: I’d like to second that new one.
BC: And it’s called The Dream Machine, The Dream Machine.
Nicole: Dream Machine.
BC: So we’d like to debut The Dream Machine for you tonight.
