BC: Thank you very much, thank you.
My Love Is Winter
One Diamond, One Heart
Pinwheels
BC: Thank you very much, thank you. How you all doin’, you okay? Pro gig. Thank you very much for coming to our show tonight. As some of you may know, we’re playing the Oceania album first tonight. (cracking up)
Jeff: Come on.
BC: You know we got a new album out, right?
Jeff: Really?
BC: That’s so...a few months ago.
Jeff: Totally.
BC: The world’s movin’ too fast, man. Anyway, after we play the album, we uh - we sit and meditate for about 10 minutes. This is San Fran so you gotta....
Jeff: Turn all the lights on, quiet down, mellow out.
BC: Since none of us smoke the weed, we just gotta try to get in sync with you out there.
Jeff: Yeah, we’ll do some yoga, then we’ll drink a bunch of Red Bulls and then we’ll rock again.
BC: There you go. So we’re about halfway through the album and then at the end of the album, we play a few classics which you may know. What do we do? We do, like, Jeremy and uh, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Black Hole Sun and Sex Type Thing and...what else do we do? That Dave Matthews song, Crash, Crash Into You, we do that one. That’s a beautiful song, I like that song.
Nicole: I don’t know that one.
BC: Anyway, we digress, let’s get back to Oceania, this is the title track. Cleverly called Oceania.
Oceania
Pale Horse
The Chimera
Glissandra
> Inkless
Wildflower
Space Oddity
> X.Y.U.
Disarm
Tonite Reprise
> Tonight, Tonight
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
BC: Thank you very kindly, thank you. Hope you’re having fun. Is it Friday night? Is it? Heh heh, heh, I don’t even know what day, is it Friday? Is it Sunday?
Nicole: I think it’s a weekend day.
BC: ‘Cause on Sunday we go to church so that’s - that’s what we’re worried about.
Nicole: I went to church today.
BC: Huh?
Nicole: I went to church today.
BC: You did?
Nicole: Yeah, there was coffee there. I went...
BC: Church of love or wha?
Nicole: No - no, the hotel told me there was the [unintelligible word] of the church so I went to church but...my default.
BC: The church of hot girls, what?
Nicole: Heh heh, the church of coffee. I wish there was a church of hot girls.
BC: Lots of beautiful women here in San Francisco, the Bay Area. Jeff, do you like beautiful women?
Jeff: Um, yeah, sure.
BC: Heh heh heh heh. We’re so happy you’re here with us tonight. Like to introduce the band. Jeff Schroeder on the guitar. (sound effect of Jeff saying “Boi-yoing-yoing”) On the bass guitar, Nicole Fiorentino. On the drums, Mr. Mike Byrne. (Mike plays a 1 second solo that ends with a cowbell hit) Cowbell. Everybody here wants more cowbell. (3 cowbell hits) How’s the Dr. Love beat go?
Calling Dr. Love (tease - Mike starts the beat, whole band joins in for 15 seconds, Billy sings a couple of lines)
BC: Yeah. You went to the church of Gene Simmons, didn’t you? You know what that means.
Nicole: Not at all, I’m the only one in the band who did not.
BC: Heh, heh, the church of Gene. Ladies and gentlemen, happy to be back in San Francisco with you. Didn’t we play some shows here at one point?
Jeff: Yeah! A couple, couple. A few.
BC: Over at the Fillmore? Just a couple shows, right? Those shows are legendary. So legendary we - we never came back. Heh heh, until now, we’re here. I’m like Mitt Romney, I just keep changing my position to suit my goal at the moment.
Jeff: I am, uh, very happy to see, on that note, some 4:20 shirts.
BC: I see some 4:20 shirts. Collectors, collectors items. Before we continue and wrap up here because, you know, we’ve got stuff to do.... What is it? What’s that, Mitchell’s, what’s that place called? The strip bar where the girls don’t take off their clothes, which one is that?
Nicole: And like, is that where we’re going?
BC: San Francisco House, what’s it?
Nicole: Are we going there?
BC: What’s it called?
Nicole: I am? I don’t know, why do you think I know?
BC: They know what I’m talkin’ about. Mitchell Brothers? Yeah. They have pancakes and girls that don’t take their clothes off...all night long. I know this is going nowhere but I’m just - I’m old and I need to breathe. Heh heh, heh heh. That’s the god’s honest truth...said Mitt Corgan. I’m gonna change my name to Mitt Corgan. Mitt.
Jeff: Oh, Mitt, I thought you said Mick.
BC: Mitt. No, Mick, Mick, there’s already a Mick. There’s already one - there’s only one Mick, there’s only one Keith. Stones have a new song out: Doom and Gloom. Kiss has a new album out: Monster. Neil Young has a new book out.
Start Me Up (tease - Jeff plays first 3 notes)
(Billy and Jeff laugh)
BC: Let me - let me say this before we continue. I feel very lucky, I have some of the greatest fans in the world, honestly, I do. As far as I know, we’re the only band out there that’s really playing their whole new album. It’s pretty cool, thank you for listening, thank you for supporting us. We’d like to stick around for a while, like to make some more music, make some more albums, so thank you so much for being there for us, thank you. So to you I dedicate this high pH water. Can you have some water? No, you cannot have some water. That’s VIP only. For VIP, you get a water, you get like a mobile catheter, you get like a VIP taser...packet. That’s VIP! That’s what it’s all about, baby. Nobody wants to listen to music anymore, they wanna have an experience. They wanna have an experience. If you pay five thousand, you get to sleep with Mike. Thirty-five hundred, Nicole will give you a tattoo. Twenty-two hundred, Jeff will read...a book to you. And I’ll tell you what I think of you for free. VIP, baby. VIPP. That’s, that, (trails off laughing).
Nicole: Are you still getting air?
BC: (laughing)
Nicole: Maybe we should play a song.
BC: Sassy lassy, sassy lassy. She’s from the east coast, she can’t help it. West coast, west coast. Best coast right here, best coast. Chi-town, baby. That’s right. Do the Giants - the Giants moved on, right? The A’s, not so good, right? The A’s went down, right? So much for that moneyball. See, they should have - the A’s should have done VIP. Then they’d be in - they’d still be in. ‘Cause they had more money to beat the Yankees. Barry Bonds is here, if that helps. He’s in the back. Heh. I love you, big man, I love you. Okay, I’ll stop talkin’, more rockin’. I’m just havin’ fun, I hope you’re havin’ fun with us. I’m into the whole thing, I’m into the serious trip, but sometimes we just gotta have fun, right? Even you, grandma. Even you, grandma. Gotta let loose, sassy lassy.
Nicole: Just a little fun, not too much.
BC: This is a song called Song for a Son, I wrote it about my father. Actually, this is a true story, it’s short, I promise. So I finish the song, my father lives in Florida, so I just finished the song, put it in, we’re driving around, listen to the song, finish the song, he goes “What’s that about?” Song for a Son. That’s my dad. This one’s for all the daddies out there.
A Song for a Son
