(BC over intro: [tape cut] next song is called Annie-Dog. And uh, because we love Detroit...we’re playing our entire new album for you tonight. And uh, where I’m going with this is uh, I don’t know all the words still, so this is our CD, it’s called Adore, these are the words. That’s me, I’m Billy.)
Iha: Ladies and gentlemen, Mike Garson on the piano. He’s a good man.
BC: Thank you all very much, thank you so much. It’s very nice to be back in Detroit. I think we played our first concert in Detroit, probably in 1989? 1989.
Iha: It’s a good year.
BC: Not 1979, 1989. So we’d like to dedicate this next song to all of you for coming to spend this evening with us, this very special evening. Where we’re giving all your money to charity.
Tonight, Tonight (acoustic)
Once Upon a Time (acoustic)
> Where Boys Fear to Tread (tease)
> Bullet with Butterfly Wings
BC: God bless you, thank you, thank you for a great night, thank you.
Iha: [tape cut] We’ll do a special presentation for the charity where [unintelligible] tonight.
Lady #1: I would like to thank you, I’m Peggy Mary Bell, this is Pam Berklish from the charity that all of you contributed to, Haven.
Lady #2: If you can hear me, Haven is an organization that works with people that have been physically and sexually abused. We work with children and adults who have been suffering from abuse within their lives and what we try to do is prevent the abuse. Our goal, like their goal, is to end violence in the lives of people. (long cheer) Today Billy, D’arcy and James came out to see our program, we - they came out to visit our shelter. We have a shelter for battered women and their children and while they were there, the children of Haven painted this picture.
D’arcy: That looks like you, Billy, doesn’t it? I think that’s me.
Lady #2: They have seen the new video and from the video, they drew what they saw. So on behalf of all the children who have been abused, the children of Haven, we want to thank all three of you for the wonderful opportunity.
D’arcy: No, thank you.
BC: Okay. The Smashing Pumpkins are proud to present Haven with a check for one hundred thousand dollars.
BC: Thank you. Thank you everybody.
Iha: Show me the money [unintelligible].
Iha: Thank you very much. Now we will continue the rock and roll portion of the show.
BC: By the way, I don’t know if anyone told you but we can’t rock anymore, we don’t play rock anymore, just wanted to let you know that.
Iha: So what - what you have seen on stage is a facsimile of a [unintelligible] and his rock and roll. And um, we should introduce the band very quickly. I introduce to you, Mike Garson on piano. On percussion, behind him, Stephen Hodges. The man in the middle, Kenny “The Astronaut” Aronoff. On percussion, all the way to my right, Dan Morris, yo. And we are, of course, Eddie, [unintelligible], Steve.
BC: Aerosmith, Aerosmith.
Iha: Aerosmith, yes, that’s it.
BC: Thank you very much.
