Banter

Rick Nielsen: Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to have here with us tonight, to have four fine individuals, a real tribute to the city of Chicago and a tribute to music in general and I'm happy to say that they're our friends and I hope they're your friends, ladies and gentlemen, the Smashing Pumpkins.
To Sheila
Tear
BC: Thank you very much. ...
Once Upon a Time (abandoned - Aronoff starts the song right as D’arcy starts talking)
D’arcy: Do you know Kenny...in the band? That’s him.
BC: Pretend he’s the new drummer, he doesn’t know [unintelligible couple words].
D’arcy: [unintelligible]
BC: I know Mellencamp, maybe you could play underneath him when he was talking, but when we’re talking, you don't play underneath us. Get that straight right now, Kenny. Heh, my neck hurts.
Once Upon a Time
BC: Like to take this moment to thank Cheap Trick...for asking us to play the show, it means a lot to us, as you know ‘cause we are Chicagoans. I definitely never thought I would see this day come, so...I'm not sure they did either, it's all good, thank you.
Daphne Descends
Let Me Give the World to You
BC: You know, as we were just playing that song, I remembered, like, we used to play above the - practice above the Cubby Bear about nine years ago. We'd like to thank the Cubby Bear for treating us like shit back then by the way too. We haven't forgotten you. And uh, I remember one time I came up with this idea and I said, “Okay, we're gonna do this like uh, kind of hip-hop version of I Want You to Want Me and D'arcy, you're gonna sing it,” heh heh. So we spent like two hours goin’, (singing) “I want you to want me”, it never worked obviously but...just all kinda came back to me in that particular moment. Probably the vestiges. And away we go.
Ava Adore
Shame
BC: Thank you very much, thank you for being awesome, cool, wonderful, hope you have a great time tonight.
Iha: Yes.
BC: We still believe Cheap Trick is...one of the greatest bands ever. [unintelligible word, sounds like “pajinka” and gets a decent reaction from the crowd]. And now we'd like to destroy everything that they stand for.
Transmission
BC: Kenny Aronoff on the drums! Thank you, have a good night.
D’arcy: So cool of them [unintelligible]
BC: God bless you.
D’arcy: So cool, I’m [unintelligible].
BC: Bennett, can we have the lights on for one second so we can say hello to you?
D’arcy: [2 unintelligible words].
