Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (on PA)
Tonight, Tonight
Rocket
Corgan: Hi, thanks a lot. We are the evil Smashing Pumpkins.
Fuck You
Corgan: Good evening, thank you very much.
By Starlight
Where Boys Fear to Tread
Zero
Corgan: Thank you very much, how's everybody doing? Thank you for such a warm response, it's been a while. I don't know what we're doing wrong but nobody seems to like us anymore so thank you very much for liking us. Yes it's pathetic but we really want your love.
Iha: With this next song, we really want your love, so everybody, be happy, cause today is a semi-OK day
Today
"Planet of the Apes" intro on PA
Thru the Eyes of Ruby
Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
Corgan: Thank you very much. Well, Matt has broken his kick-drum pedal, Matt, the drummer.
Iha: [unintelligible]
Corgan: He's so strong that he's...
Iha: Yes, Matt is quite the He-man drummer
Corgan: So, what would you like to hear then, since we can't play any songs with Matt. I see. Your drum is fixed now, Matt? Well, now we don't want to play with you Matt, that's the problem
Iha, on acoustic guitar, plays chords and teases Slunk: Right on, motherfucker. [crowd cheers] Wow, all you have to be is be vulgar and get some attention
Corgan: Heh. [abandons after a few wrong notes] I'm not very good on the guitar.
Galapagos
Corgan: Thank you very much. This is the part of the show where we tempt you with silence. [crowd cheers]
Disarm (acoustic)
'Circus' intro on PA
Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Corgan: We'd like to end the concert tonight on a Ted Nugent song.
Iha: Yes.
Corgan: Although it may not seem to have relevance to you at this particular time, it's a song for all the ages, and I don't mean just from 17 to 63. Anything to add there, brother?
Iha: Well...I don't know man. People have been nice. And... I don't know. People of all race, creeds, colors, let's get it on.
Muzzle
Intermission...
Iha: Thanks a lot, you guys have been rocking. [strums some chords] We got the Chicago blues, you see.
Corgan: Would you like to tell everyone, what kind of blues we're about to play?
Iha: Ah, yes. Well, let's examine the music. It starts off in 4-4 time signature and scored in guitar chord...
Corgan: That's not what I mean.
Iha: What? Oh, it's cyber-metal, cyber-futuristic metal. Let's fucking rock. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I stopped half-way through...
Corgan: Cyber-blues.
Iha: Oh, that part escaped me. Cyber-blues rock, let's rock
Corgan: That's it?
Iha: Um, alright, the name...
Corgan: These people paid a lot of money for an explanation
Iha: Listen, it's been a while since i"ve been to college, so I will just give the introduction to the name of the song. Ladies and gentlemen, the name of this next song is X.Y.U.
X.Y.U.
Iha: Gratsia, merci. Thank you very much for sticking around. Ladies and gentlemen I must introduce this green angel next to me, our good friend, it's Jimmy Frog. Jimmy Frog. And now ladies and gentlemen, his brother, on the keyboards, all the way from Milwaukee to rock with us on this tour, Dennis Frog. Dennis fucking Frog, let me say this again, Dennis Frog. And now, the man behind the drum kit, we've introduced him before but now we have to give him a proper introduction, all the way from Wilmet (?), Matt Cosmo Walker. Yes, Matt's an old family friend of our's and his father and my father went ice fishing about fifteen years together in Saskatoon. They met at a bait shop and I found this out just weeks ago and I'm still flustered.
Corgan: Are you saying you're Matt's uncle?
Iha: Yes, yes.
Corgan: Now people, this of course is the point in the show where we used to ask people to come up to the stage and dance. Used to...
Iha: I'm feeling kind of nostalgic...
Corgan: Because of the unpredictable nature of Smashing Pumpkisn fan-type people, we can no longer do the dancing on stage.
Iha: It seemed that whenever we did such act, we always got psychopaths on stage
Corgan: Of course, now there aren't any crazy people here, but you never know
Iha: So, on this next dance we encourage you all to dance, yes, dance. Let's do the bugaloo
1979
Iha: Is nothing sacred anymore? Ladies and gentlemen, let's have a round of applause for Jimmy Frog. He came all the way out here on a Lear jet, put the show together, got the shit together. We give it up for Jimmy Frog. And now we will go back to an older record of our's. It's a rock song, yes, hope you enjoy it.
Corgan: This is the last song, this is the last song I can sing for you. [drumming Cherub intro] You think, Matt, after all this time, you'd learn how to do the fucking drum fill (?)
Iha: He's a quick learner.
Corgan: All the years in the circus
Cherub Rock
