recordings: DAT/STU - ANA/FM
set: NonePoints of interest:
- There were 14 songs of new material recorded apparently -before- the recording sessions that the band is still not sure what to do with. But as the caller had asked, no double CD at all. These 14 songs may appear on the "Best Of" album planned.
- I think that a Listessian must have called in and asked this question because it was addressed on the list a few digests ago. But Billy confirmed that the song "Behold! The Night Mare" is actually about a "horse running along the beach at night" if Billy is being serious, which in some instances is difficult to tell
- The band plans to put out a documentary of the "Adore" tour filled with footage of the "17 and 18 shows recorded" in addition to hotels, parking lots, and other unusual locations.
- A caller had asked about what the band enjoys listening to before they go on stage (which I imagine would be in the hotel)
- D'arcy: Air, Luscious Jackson (she mentioned the "heionous Lilith Fair Tour" twice so PPRN's news on D'arcy's hatred of Sarah M. isn't surprisng)
- James: ??
- Billy: Scorpions (he mentioned he had bought a Best Of record and gave a quick response to this question. Possible cover of the Scorpions in store?)
- Probably as a joke, Billy said that the titles of songs come from Judas Priest albums and how Gish was going to be called Fish.
- They didn't give a clear answer as to a question regarding what the setlist might be for the HORDE dates, but they seemed to be steering towards a jam method. Definitely "Transmission".
- Billy said that his involvment with the new MM record was only as a friend and only to steer them in a direction, but he said he had "literal involvment" with the new Hole album.
- "Blised and Gone" formerly known as "Need" actually has two version, but he said it will be a b-side for a single, but Billy did not specify. Probably for the "Perfect" single.
- Another reference to Jerry Springer and "trailer park" and Billy said that he at one time lived in a trailer park. Hmm, somewhat odd about all this.
- The band has many remixes from Ministry, Puffy Combs, Valentine, The Frogs, etc but they didn't mention any releases of these. Is it possible that a remix of "Perfect" might be included as a b-side?
- Billy defined a fan of the band as this: "Someone who is willing to have the opportunity to win them over [the band]. Having faith in them [a band] and to get them to get you". Pretty interesting. He felt that "Adore" was the kind of record that people had to give it a chance.
- "Appels + Oranjes" had to be redone fragmented and sparsed totally in the midst and the lyrics were changed a lot, the final one being the set that D'arcy liked.
- Billy mentioned that the band wanted to play in America for free, mainly park shows, but all U.S. cities contacted denied offers.
- D'arcy was reading "Gone with the Wind" during the interview for some reason.
- The "old songs" will be rotated in slowly just as "Stumbleine" was played in Texas I think. Billy said that they just wanted to embrace their new direction, that's all, and that none have been dropped.
- D'arcy mentioned that her husband did not really say anything about her "revealing photographs" in the booklet.
- A caller asked about formally allowing taping and Billy said that there were some legalities and they would have to negotiate with Virgin Records for this. Strangely enough, he also mentioned how it would be ruined on the Internet and this seemed to be some sort of reference to the Archive. Hmm.
- Billy felt that "Crestfallen" was probably the most difficult since it took 12-14 days to get a particular feeling for the song. James said that "Pug" was one of his fav. songs from the album.
- "For Martha" wasn't intended to be a song about her death, but moreover a tribute to her spirits, gracefulness, etc
- A caller asked "What's next?" and Billy said "crazy big monsterous rock plans" and that was all he could reveal. The band said that they plan to do US shows in the winter but only if the recording will permit that and all..
- The final question was who were the idols/heroes of each member:
- Billy: John Lennon
- James: George Harrison
- D'arcy: The Beatles
